About Us
In 2007, a handful of young Jewish adults in Toronto collaborated on a community building fund raiser to support vulnerable Ethiopian families in Israel. The initial plan was to raise $10,000 and involve a few dozen Jewish volunteers in the process. Seven years later, the annual event has raised over half a million dollars, involved hundreds of volunteers and participants, and directly enhanced the lives of hundreds of Ethiopian-Israelis through sports and education programs. Hoops 4 Israel has raised significant online and community awareness of this prevalent social issue in Israel.
Our volunteer leadership committee continues to grow on a yearly basis and this year, we have a lot of fresh faces. Not to mention a new venue, a Toronto community partnership and more teams registered (even before we opened registration). We are confident that 2013 will bring even more visibility to HOOPS 4 ISRAEL, Bat Yam, Birthright Israel and the partnerships that are celebrated in our community.
